{"id":258,"date":"2007-07-30T15:06:28","date_gmt":"2007-07-30T15:06:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hubcaps.org\/blog\/?p=258"},"modified":"2013-02-06T10:09:41","modified_gmt":"2013-02-06T18:09:41","slug":"1948-buick-special-sedanette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hubcaps.org\/blog\/2007\/07\/1948-buick-special-sedanette\/","title":{"rendered":"1948 Buick Special Sedanette&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good Morning and Happy Monday to you all from Hubcaps.com.\u00a0 I hope you all had a great weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Roland Irle, from Sweden, drops us this little e-mail and some pictures of his 1948 Buick Special Sedanette.\u00a0 He purchased our BK52 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hubcaps.org\/buick.html\">Buick wheel covers<\/a> for a 1952 Buick but they fit perfectly on his 1948 Buick Special. &#8220;Its a 1948 Special 2-door Sedanette, with original straight eight, three on the tree, torque tube drive and all the goodies of these days. There are not too many around anymore. Two-door Specials, the base models, made only about 5 percent of Buick sales during the car-hungry post war years. Around 11,000 of model run 1948 were build, largely unchanged since 1942. Found it in Molkom, Sweden, in Nov 2004, sold by a guy who imported it from Ramona, CA, east of San Diego. Presumably it had also been assembled in Buick&#8217;s California plant and had a good life in the sun. It&#8217;s rust free and the original paint is sun burned in some areas. The previous owners have mildly customized it, with a 2-inch lowering kit, the fattest usable wheel + tire combination and a Y-pipe twin exhaust system. Interior trim was new. Otherwise it&#8217;s original and straight. We are into our third season and it&#8217;s nice to drive, nice to look at and reasonably easy to work with. Little do I know about the cars history in the US.
