Look at our Sweet Emma. She’s our Hubcaps.com Yard Dog. Do you recognize her dog bowls? In the 1940’s, before the first full wheel covers came out, they had hub caps that just covered the lugnuts. These hubcaps were shaped like bowls and people regularly used these caps to feed and water their dogs. We call them Dog Dish Hubcaps.
Dog Dish hub caps range in physical diameter from about 8 inches to 12 inches and were produced by all the major manufacturers such as Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Pontiac, Cadillac, Buick, Chrysler and Oldsmobile, plus many more. These caps also became known as Poverty Caps which will be a topic in a future blog.
Emma’s Dog Dishes come from an early 1990’s Dodge Hubcaps and she certainly agrees that these Dodge Truck Hubcaps make a perfect dog bowl for her. Please let Emma know how cute you think she is.
