1948 Buick Special Sedanette

1948 Special 2-door SedanetteGood Morning and Happy Monday to you all from Hubcaps.com. I hope you all had a great weekend.

Roland Irle, from Sweden, drops us this little e-mail and some pictures of his 1948 Buick Special Sedanette. He purchased our BK52 wheel covers for a 1952 Buick but they fit perfectly on his 1948 Buick Special.
“Its a 1948 Special 2-door Sedanette, with original straight eight, three on the tree, torque tube drive and all the goodies of these days. There are not too many around anymore. Two-door Specials, the base models, made only about 5 percent of Buick sales during the car-hungry post war years. Around 11,000 of model run 1948 were build, largely unchanged since 1942. Found it in Molkom, Sweden, in Nov 2004, sold by a guy who imported it from Ramona, CA, east of San Diego. Presumably it had also been assembled in Buick’s California plant and had a good life in the sun. It’s rust free and the original paint is sun burned in some areas. The previous owners have mildly customized it, with a 2-inch lowering kit, the fattest usable wheel+tire combination and a Y-pipe twin exhaust system. Interior trim was new. Otherwise it’s original and straight. We are into our third season and it’s nice to drive, nice to look at and reasonably easy to work with. Little do I know about the cars history in the US. So, if anybody knows something about this Ramona car, please drop me a note. Want to know more, just let me know.

Great to do business with you!

Roland”

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air ConvertibleOh my goodness! Look at this beautiful 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible! She comes to us from one of our valued customers, Roland Roemer.

He informs us that this Chevy is a completely documented, back to the dealer, 57,000 mile car. She’s all original, even the seats, and runs great!

When Roland was ready for hub caps, even though he had the original wheel covers, he came to Hubcaps.com. He purchased our CHV57S hub caps, which we restored to better than original condition. I can’t tell you all enough how awesome our Restoration Department is. They take wheelcovers that people are ready to throw away and turn them into works of art!

Roland, your automobile is one of my favorites. Thank you so much for sharing her with us. I’m still waiting for someone who purchased hubcaps from Hubcaps.com for a Nomad to e-mail me though. The Nomad is my absolute favorite classic automobile.

If there’s anyone out there interested in our hubcaps and wheel covers, give us a call, let us answer your questions. 1-800-826-5880 or 1-909-597-2600. We’ll do our best for you. Guaranteed!

1964 Buick Skylark Sportwagon

1964 Buick Skylark SportwagonGood Morning and Happy Monday to you all from Hubcaps.com!

Brett Finley, from Tomball, Texas is our featured customer today. He has a beautiful 1964 Buick Skylark Sportwagon that was purchased new by his parents and lovingly restored just this year. He came to us when he was looking for original hub caps and purchased our 1964 Buick wheel covers, part number A16.

Here is what Mr. Finley shared with us about his baby.

“Presenting my 1964 Buick Skylark sportwagon with correct and complete, all original to this car 300 cu in “Wildcat 310″ V8 and Super Turbine 300 2 speed automatic. Factory air, PS/PB with stainless steel brakes front disc conversion for safety’s sake requiring 15 X 7 inch 4.75 5 bolt factory style steel rims from Turner’s Auto Wrecking in California and 4 original 1964 Buick Wildcat factory wheel covers from Hubcaps.com which I converted to original looking Buick “spinners” by transferring the spinners from the factory 14 inch wheel covers to the Hubcaps.com specimens maintaining a beautiful original look.

This car was purchased brand new by my parents and has been in our family its entire life thus far. Original drivetrain ran for 30 years until retired to sit in a garage. Resurrected, refurbished/rebuilt/refreshened from late Feb 2007 to first firing mid June 2007. Car has absolutely original interior/exterior right down to carpet/upholstery. Almost certainly the only remaining 1964 Sportwagon still running the powerplant and driveline verifiably documented original to this specific vehicle. I have neither seen nor heard of any other 1964 Buick Skylark Sportwagon which can verifiably make this claim under any circumstances.”

Mr. Finley, thank you so much for sharing your story with us and these wonderful pictures. She’s awesome and I’m so glad that we could help you with your restoration.

If you’ve purchased hub caps from us and would like to share your story and pictures, please e-mail me here. We would love to hear from you. Hubcaps.com would love to help you with your restoration or daily driver and we’re always available for questions and information.

Thanks again,

April

1962 Ford Thunderbird

1962 Ford ThunderbirdThis comes to us from one of our loyal customers, Marian Rudnyk of Hollywood, California. He has been a Hubcaps.com customer for some time now and we have helped him with hub caps for 3 out of 5 of his restored vehicles. Marian, thank you for your continued support of Hubcaps.com and for sending us these great stories and pictures.

This 1962 Ford Thunderbird was purchased 5 years ago for virtually a hand shake and a smile. It had been abandoned and forgotten nearly 40 years ago when the pilot who bought it parked it in an aircraft hangar, and then died at his flight destination somewhere across the country. When his wife decided to consolidate her estate, a DMV check reminded her that he had bought this new car in 1962. Driving out to the desert airport, the family found the car, still parked after all these years – with only 19,000 original miles on it! Unwilling to keep the car she let her son-in-law dispose of it, and he sold it to the present owner. With only minor restoration work, the car is now at near show quality. When a hubcap was damaged last year, a beautiful original replacement, our AC2, was found at Hubcaps.com.

Some fun facts about the “bullet-bird” or “rocket-bird” as these particular Thunderbirds are called:
They were only made from 1961 through 1963. Elvis Presley owned one. Bullet-birds such as this one were used for President John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural motorcade. As a matter-of-fact, so many were needed that Ford asked many of it’s customers if they wouldn’t mind a delay in the delivery of their new cars so that they could be used by this Presidential procession. The convertible version of this car was used by Sean Connery in a James Bond movie, and they have appeared numerous times in TV, film and even album covers.

Thanks Hubcaps.com!

Marian, thank you again! You rock!

Give us a shot if you’re looking for a wheel cover or center cap for your classic car or truck. We’d love to help you out!
